Things to do in Călimănești

Why you should go

Ninety seconds on Călimănești

A spa town in the Olt defile, taking waters that the Romans used at the Roman camp downstream and that were bottled for the Habsburg court. The valley narrows here between the Cozia and Căpățânii massifs. Cozia monastery on the river bank is the reason most people stop, and it holds the tomb of Mircea the Elder. Two smaller monasteries are up in the forest above it, reached on foot.
