Things to do in Devonshire

Why you should go

Ninety seconds on Devonshire

The central parish, and the one with no coastline worth a resort, which is why it holds the island's farmland, its arboretum and its highest inland ground. It is passed through more than visited and rewards anyone who stops.

Things to do

3
  1. Bermuda Arboretum

    Park · 1 hr

Twenty two acres of open lawn and specimen trees on old military land, planted with palms, conifers and figs from around the subtropics. It is the island's park for a walk that involves neither sand nor a hill.

  2. Devonshire Bay Park

    Waterfront · 30 min

A small fishing bay on the south shore with a ruined battery on the headland above it and boats pulled up on the slipway. The beach is more rock than sand and the swimming is in a natural pool inside the point.

  3. Old Devonshire Church

    Church · 30 min

A low limestone church of 1716, blown apart by a bomb on Easter morning in 1970 and rebuilt from its own stone to the same plan. Some of the cedar furniture and the seventeenth century silver survived the blast.
