Things to do
3-

Inca Tunuhuiri
A hilltop site above the lake between Chucuito and Ichu, with an oval enclosure and terracing that predates the Inca occupation of this shore. It is unfenced and rarely visited, and the reason to walk up is the run of the bay towards Puno.
-
Inca Uyo
A walled enclosure beside the plaza filled with rows of carved stone phalli, read as an Inca fertility temple though the arrangement may be a colonial reconstruction. It sits behind the church of Santo Domingo and takes twenty minutes to see properly.
-
Monasterio Benedictino de la Resurrección
A Benedictine house on the lake shore at 3,870 metres, which makes it the highest Catholic monastery in the world, founded by the Belgian monk Simón Pedro Arnold. The church is built in the local idiom with a single nave, and the guesthouse takes visitors on retreat.
