Uçhisar Castle
The tallest rock outcrop in Cappadocia, tunnelled through with rooms and stairways and open to the summit. The view takes in Göreme, Erciyes and the whole plateau, and it is the best place in the region to watch the sun go down.

Argos in Cappadocia
A hotel built into a ruined monastery and the tunnels beneath it at the top of Uçhisar, with its own cellar and a terrace facing Erciyes. The rooms are cut rooms rather than themed ones.

Museum Hotel
A cave hotel on the Uçhisar slope assembled around a private collection of Anatolian antiquities, with an infinity pool looking over the Göreme valley. It is the most expensive address in the region.

Pigeon Valley
The valley between Uçhisar and Göreme whose cliffs are pocked with cut pigeon houses, kept for centuries for the manure that fed the vines. The path down takes about an hour and is easier walked downhill.
