Things to do in Pointe Michel

Why you should go

Ninety seconds on Pointe Michel

Gas rises through the seabed off this fishing village in steady columns of bubbles, which is where Champagne Reef gets its name. The village itself is one street wedged between the sea and a steep hillside. Offshore the seabed vents gas through the sand in a steady stream of bubbles, which is what gives Champagne Reef its name. The shore here is stone, not sand and the water drops away quickly.
