Ninety seconds on Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo
After one thirty the feeds stack up: harbour seals, then an aquarist in the reef tank at a quarter to two, then the turtles at two. Last admission is four, so an afternoon arrival has to be an early one.
The aquarium hall comes first past the gate, and its big tank holds one of the largest collections of living coral anywhere. An aquarist dives into it once a day, in the early afternoon. The museum follows in two halves, the island before humans arrived and what happened to it after, and then the outdoor part: enclosures grouped by island rather than by continent, Caribbean, Australasian and Madagascan, running to roughly three hundred animals. Feeding and teasing are forbidden and so, oddly and specifically, are balloons and drinking straws. Two to three hours covers the whole site. A cafe and a picnic area are inside the grounds.
