Angla Windmills
Five wooden mills stand in a row on the Leisi road, four of them the trestle type once common across Saaremaa and one a taller Dutch design added in the 1920s. A heritage centre beside them runs bread baking and handicraft demonstrations. Opening is seasonal, though the mills are visible from the roadside year round.

Kuressaare Castle
Squat, square and built of local dolomite, the bishop's fortress on the shore is one of the few medieval castles in the Baltic states to survive intact, its moat still wet and its defence tower still roofed. Inside, the island museum covers deportations and the Soviet border zone. Cold stone means layers even in July.

Panga Cliff
Limestone breaks off at the north coast in a bank some twenty metres above the sea, exposing layers laid down under a Silurian ocean. Offerings were once made at the edge, and the practice survives in local stories. Wind comes hard off the water, the rim is unfenced, and the footing near it is loose.

Vilsandi National Park
Islets, juniper heath and seal haul-outs make up the oldest protected area in the country, spread along the west coast and out to the island the park is named for. Birdwatchers come in spring for migrating geese and eiders. Reaching Vilsandi itself means a boat from Papissaare or a guided walk across the shallows at low water, arranged ahead.
