Ninety seconds on AC Hotel Wroclaw
After a day in the Old Town, you come back to a nineteenth-century tenement on plac Wolności, where some rooms come with a terrace of their own.
From plac Wolności the building still reads as a period tenement: it went up in 1875 and was renovated to open as a hotel. Inside, the finish is modern throughout, and the rooms are contemporary in design rather than period pieces.
The rooms follow the old building's layout, so each of the 91 is decorated individually. Every one has premium bedding, a coffee maker, a minibar and a desk with fast Wi-Fi.
The ones worth asking for have outdoor space. Terrace rooms are sold as their own category, up to a Junior Suite with Terrace, with a place to sit out and look over the city. Other rooms have balconies facing the National Music Forum.
Start the day in the ground-floor lounge, where breakfast is laid out as a buffet. The same lounge holds an open bar, a library and the Fuego restaurant, so you can eat and have a drink without going out again.
A large swimming pool sits beside the fitness room, with a massage room alongside. Use them at the end of a day spent walking the city, then go back up to the lounge for a last drink at the bar or a book from the library before bed.
The hotel's patio closes on some days for private events, so an evening drink outside is not guaranteed on any given night.
Trams and buses in Wrocław are ticketed. Vending machines across the city sell the tickets, so you can buy one before you step aboard.
