Getting there: The steps begin beside the E10 just east of Reine at the tunnel mouth, about fifteen minutes on foot from the village car parks; roadside parking on the E10 is enforced against.
Best time: Early morning, or near midnight under the midnight sun; July middays crowd the summit
Season: Open roughly late May into the end of September, with closures for rockfall work
Effort: 1,978 Sherpa steps, about 450 m of gain, roughly an hour up
Access: Just under 2,000 Sherpa-built stone steps climb from the roadside to the ridge, steep and exposed, with no step-free alternative and no view of Reine reachable without the climb.
