Ninety seconds on Parque del Amor
Stop here on a clifftop walk through Miraflores for Peruvian love poetry set in tile, a sculpture made for couples to kiss beside, and an open view down to the Pacific shore.
El Beso, Spanish for The Kiss, is Víctor Delfín's sculpture of two lovers, set on a raised platform in the middle of the park. It is made of cement and clay coloured with red pigment. Couples stop beside it to photograph themselves kissing.
Curved walls faced with colourful mosaic ring the sculpture, the tiles cut in many sizes. Worked into them are love phrases and verses by 20th-century Peruvian poets, César Moro and Martín Adán among them.
Around the walls, the lawns are planted in heart shapes, and couples have fixed padlocks to a wall.
The park ends at the top of the cliff. You look straight down onto the beach, with long views along the coast in both directions.
Head for El Beso in the middle of the park first. Go round the sculpture once, then follow the mosaic walls, which are low enough to sit on, and take your time over the poets' lines.
From the walls, cross the heart-shaped lawns and look for the wall of padlocks. Then walk to the seaward side of the park and look down at the beach.
To carry on, the malecón leads to Parque Raimondi, the municipality's paragliding launch site. Larcomar is a little over half a mile away along the Malecón de la Reserva, a walk that keeps you above the sea.
