Ao Nang
Krabi's main beach town is a single strip of restaurants, dive shops and hotels behind a narrow beach. Its value is the boats: longtails leave the sand for Railay through the day, and ferries to Phi Phi and Lanta run from Nopparat Thara pier just west. Nearly every Krabi day trip is sold and boarded here.

Ko Hong
Limestone island in Than Bok Khorani National Park, an hour by longtail from Ao Nang, with a curved white beach on its eastern side and a hidden saltwater lagoon, Thale Nai, entered through a cleft in the cliff. Boats crowd the beach in the middle of the day. Seas are calm enough for the crossing from November to April.

Railay Beach
A peninsula south of Ao Nang, walled off from the road by limestone cliffs and reached only by longtail boat, ten minutes from the Ao Nang seafront. Its bolted routes made it one of the world's better known climbing areas, and schools teach beginners daily. Phra Nang beach at the eastern end holds a cave shrine stacked with carved wooden offerings to a sea princess.

Tiger Cave Temple
Wat Tham Suea stands in a wooded valley outside Krabi town, and a staircase of more than twelve hundred steps climbs the limestone knoll behind it to a gilded Buddha and a view across the province to the Andaman. The climb takes most of an hour and is steep and exposed, so early morning is the sensible hour. Macaques take anything left loose.
