The way in is a narrow cliffside path from the old town gate, ten to fifteen minutes on uneven ground that takes no wheels at all. Be on it before nine, because both coves are small and the crowd is not.

Two linked coves of pale pebble beneath cliffs west of Budva's old town, reached by a cliffside footpath from the Avala hotel headland. The path passes below the Mogren Fortress ruins.

What you do here

Two sections, and a short tunnel carved through the rock joins them. Smooth pebble at both, under dramatic limestone cliffs, with the water deep and clear close in. The far cove keeps emptier, for the reason that the tunnel does not read as a way through until it is entered. Loungers are hired at each. The path in is the whole character of the place: a cliff walk with the sea below it, which is why nothing arrives here on wheels and why the coves fill from the old town rather than from a car park.

Know before you goEntry to the beach costs nothing. The only charge is for a lounger and umbrella, and both coves hire them out.
