Ninety seconds on Jaz Beach
East of the central beach bars the shore is rockier and calmer. Lay your towel there, on the open sand between the lounger rows, which is free to use.
You can park and walk straight onto the beach, which is rare on this stretch of coast. The sea shelves gently and the water is clear, so it suits small children, and the right-hand end has more sand than pebble.
The centre is the noisy part, with bar after bar, music and water sports: jet skis, parasailing, kayak and paddleboard hire, and an inflatable water park for younger swimmers. Lifeguards are on duty. Some bars will not let you sit with your own food or drink, so pick your spot before you unpack lunch.
