Ninety seconds on Iglesia Luterana
Across the avenue from the Teatro del Lago, the two buildings sum up Frutillar in one look. One is a timber church the Lutheran congregation took five years to finish through the crash, and the town's modern concert hall.
Look up first. The tower reaches 13 metres, which with the Catholic parish church makes it one of the two tallest buildings in town, and it and the bells were added four years after the church opened. Everything is timber, from the platform frame to the vertical and horizontal boarding, and the one open concession to Gothic is the pointed arch over the main window. Since the interior keeps no published hours, plan on the exterior and treat an open door as a bonus. The Catholic parish church further along the same avenue is the other half of the town's religious story, and its vaults, wooden pews and coloured glass are the interior the town's guides describe.
