Northern Necropolis of Hierapolis

The largest of Hierapolis's burial grounds, stretching along the road north of the city with more than a thousand tombs, from stone tumuli to house tombs and carved sarcophagi, one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Turkey.

About an hour  ·  Ticketed

The largest necropolis in Anatolia and the emptiest part of the site; walk it in the morning from the north gate so the light is behind you and the tomb road is still cool.

Getting thereIt lines the old road running north from the Byzantine gate at the far end of Hierapolis, about twenty minutes on the level from the theatre, or straight in from the north entrance car park.
