Ninety seconds on Costanera de Ancud
There are still footings of the old waterfront showing along the shore, wrecked by the 1960 earthquake with the factories and warehouses beside them. A small lookout tower at the schooner plaza gives the walk its one high view.
Starting at the Muelle Ancud, the promenade runs along the bay as far as Playa Fátima, passing a couple of old cannon and some street art. Panoramic viewers stand at the Plazoleta Goleta, halfway along. Food, lodging, a petrol station and a tourist information point all sit on the seafront. It is also the first leg of the municipal route of the Spanish forts, which carries on out to the Lacuy peninsula.
