Ninety seconds on Chaudiere Pool
If it rained yesterday, leave this one alone: the last stretch in is a river crossing, and heavy rain the day before can make it dangerous. Otherwise, plan it into a day on the north coast.
Leave your dry things well above the water before you swim. The pool is cut out of grey rock on the upper Hampstead River and fed by a chute off the river above. It is deep enough to dive into from the highest rocks on either side, and the chute doubles as a slide.
Swimming is the whole visit. The rocks stay warm, so two hours passes easily. Watch for parrots on the walk in.
