Ninety seconds on Wotten Waven
The island's geothermal field runs directly under this hamlet above Roseau. Sulphur vents in the gardens, the river runs warm, and half a dozen small bathhouses have been built over the springs. It is where walkers come down to after the Boiling Lake, and where anyone staying in the Roseau valley ends the day. The water is hot enough to need mixing and the smell does not wash out of clothes quickly.
A set of stone bathing pools terraced down a slope on the edge of the village, planted around and fed by the springs behind them.
Hot sulphur pools built into the hillside above the village, fed straight from the vents and mixed with river water to bring the temperature down. Several are open in the evening.
