Ninety seconds on Petrovac
A small resort with a red sand beach, a Venetian fort at one end and a seafront promenade under old pines. Two islets sit offshore and the beach at Lucice is a short walk over the headland. Petrovac is calmer and more family shaped than Budva, about 25 minutes down the coast, and keeps a working town underneath the summer trade. It is also the usual jumping off point for the monasteries and beaches further south.
Six hundred metres of sand below the town, a promenade along it, and two islets offshore, Katič and Sveta Neđelja. The sixteenth century Venetian fort of Kastel Lastva stands at the north end of the bay, built to discourage pirates.
