Ninety seconds on Jobson's Cove
Swimming is the whole of it, and the pool is tiny, so the hour matters more than the day: it thins out after three. Nothing here is for hire and there are no toilets, so everything arrives on foot from the long bay.
Under 200 metres of sand path separates the pool from the car park at the western end of Warwick Long Bay. That short walk is most of why it stays quiet. Inside the rock the water is shallow with a sandy bottom, calm enough for children when the rest of the shore is breaking. Fish gather near the gap where the open sea pushes through, which is also the one place with a current and not a swim to take on casually. Steps have been cut into the cliff for the view above, and they are slippery. Take water shoes, take shade, and take whatever is going to be eaten, because the toilets and the snack concession are back along the beach.
