Things to do in Warwick

Why you should go

Ninety seconds on Warwick

The parish immediately east of Southampton, holding the quieter half of the south shore beaches and the dune path that links them. Nothing here is a resort strip: the beaches are reached from the road or on foot along the sand.

  1. Jobson's Cove

    Jobson's Cove

    Beach · 1.5 hr

A near enclosed pool of sand and shallow water, ringed by rock with a narrow gap to the open sea, at the end of the dune path from Warwick Long Bay. It is calm enough for small children when everything either side is breaking.

  2. Astwood Park

    Park · 1 hr

Clifftop parkland above two small coves, with picnic ground on the grass and a steep path down to the sand. Longtails nest in the cliff face below the lawn through the spring.

  3. Chaplin Bay

    Beach · 1.5 hr

A pair of small beaches split by a limestone spine that all but joins the shore at low tide, on the trail between Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Long Bay. There are no facilities, which is most of its appeal.

  4. Christ Church

    Church · 30 min

A Presbyterian church of 1719 on the Middle Road, claimed as the oldest Presbyterian church still standing in any British territory. The graveyard runs down the slope behind it.

  5. Warwick Long Bay

    Beach · 2.5 hr

The longest beach on the south shore, close to a kilometre of pink sand backed by low dunes, with a single black boiler reef standing offshore. It is a short walk from Horseshoe Bay and holds a fraction of the people.

  6. Warwick Pond

    Park · 30 min

A freshwater pond and National Trust reserve in the middle of the parish, one of the few places on the island where migrating waders put down. A short trail loops the water from the Railway Trail.
