South Shore Park
Half a dozen coves lie along this path, and most Horseshoe Bay visitors never reach them. Walk it one way, swim wherever the water looks best, and take the bus back.

Astwood Park
A cliff-top lawn with toilets and trails sits above a small cove with no lifeguard. Picnic up top, and go down to swim only if you are strong in rough water.

Chaplin Bay
Horseshoe Bay's pink sand carries on here, with a fraction of the crowd. Walk east along the dune trail and come at low tide, when there is a beach to sit on.

Christ Church
Come on a Sunday morning, the one time the doors are sure to be open. The sermon is still preached from a mahogany pulpit built by James Williams a few years after he was freed from slavery.

Jobson's Cove
Shallow, calm water inside a ring of rock makes this the cove for children when the rest of the shore is breaking. Come after three, when the crowd thins.

Warwick Long Bay
Late afternoon is the hour to come: parrotfish feed along the water's edge, close enough to watch from the sand. The beach is long enough that you can usually find a stretch to yourself.

Warwick Pond
Birdwatching is the reason to come. Watch the pond from the lookout deck, then follow the signed trail through allspice and cedar woods, and bring binoculars.
