Things to do

Bin el Ouidane Dam
Turquoise water fills a long reservoir in the hills northeast of Ouzoud, with steep shores of red earth and pine. Lakeside lodges run kayaking and boat trips in the warm months. The drive takes about an hour, and the dam wall itself gives the widest view down the lake.

Imi n'Ifri Natural Bridge
Outside Demnate, a natural travertine arch spans a gorge cut by a stream that runs on through a cave mouth below. Steps lead down beneath the arch, where stalactites hang from the rock. The site is open and free, and the climb back up the steps is hard work in summer heat.
-
Ouzoud Falls
Three tiers of water fall into a basin ringed with fig and olive trees, viewed from paths that run down one side of the gorge and back up the other. Painted boats ferry passengers under the spray at the bottom. Rainbows form in the afternoon spray, and the paths need no guide.

Tanaghmeilt
Across the gorge from the falls, an old Berber village of earth and stone houses steps up the hillside. A path climbs to it from the lower pools, and some of the oldest dwellings are dug into the slope. A local guide can arrange a look inside. The walk takes under an hour each way from the cascades.
