Dominica Museum
A small museum in the old post office on the bayfront, covering Kalinago settlement, the slave trade and the island's geology. It is the one place in Roseau that explains what the rest of the island is.

Dominica Botanic Gardens
Forty acres laid out in 1891 on an old sugar estate below Morne Bruce, planted as a nursery for the colony. A school bus crushed by a baobab in the 1979 hurricane has been left where it fell.

Fort Young
An eighteenth century fort on the waterfront that became the island's main garrison, then the police headquarters, and is now a hotel with the batteries and walls still standing around it.

Fort Young Hotel
The island's best known town hotel, built into the walls of the eighteenth century fort on the Roseau waterfront, and the usual base for anyone using the capital as a working centre.

Morne Bruce
The ridge directly above the botanic gardens, reached on a short steep path or by road, with the whole of Roseau, the harbour and the coast south to Scotts Head laid out below it.

Old Market
A cobbled square behind the bayfront that has been a market place since the eighteenth century and was the site of the slave market and, later, public executions. Craft stalls trade under the roof now.

Roseau Cathedral
Our Lady of Fair Haven, built in volcanic stone over most of the nineteenth century in a Gothic Revival style. Hurricane Maria took its roof in 2017 and repairs have run for years since.
