The smallest of the Cetinje collections and the quickest, half an hour of highland dress, looms and household iron. It is already covered by the combined ticket, which is the only real argument for going in.
Half an hour, and the thing to look at is the clothing. Montenegrin highland dress was a statement of clan and standing rather than a costume, and the cases here hold the versions that survived: the caps, the jackets worked in gold thread, the weapons that were part of the outfit rather than separate from it. Around them sit the working half of the same life, looms, spindles, water vessels and the iron of a house that made nearly everything in it. It is a small collection and it does not pretend otherwise.
