Kotor Old Town
Tenders start landing around nine and the squares are at their worst from ten to four. The lanes are free and never shut, so the only decision worth making is which hour to be in them.

Cathedral of Saint Tryphon
Most of what the ticket buys is up the stairs in the treasury. It is a working cathedral, so services close it to visitors without notice.

Bay of Kotor
Driving is how this one is seen. About an hour to the mouth without stopping, half a day if the towns on it are the point rather than the driving, and two days if they properly are.

Church of St. Nicholas
It is the only Orthodox church in Kotor holding services every day, so the hour a visitor gets inside is decided by the liturgy more than by the posted times. Entry is free and respectful dress is expected.

Kotor City Walls and Fortress
The climb is 1,350 steps up a wall with no shade on it, so the hour it is started decides how hard it is. First light, or the last hour before dark.

Church of St. Luke
Built in 1195, in the reign of Stefan Nemanja, and Byzantine and Gothic at once. It is Serbian Orthodox today, and the icons on its iconostasis were painted in the seventeenth century by Dimitrije Daskal.

Citadela
Part of the wall circuit that rings the old town and climbs the mountain behind it, the citadel is the fortified block at the foot of the system, built up under Venetian rule and reworked for centuries after. Ramparts and terraces look down into the lanes and out across the bay. The long stair towards Saint John's fortress bakes by mid morning.

Kotor Fish Market
The waterfront market outside Kotor's sea gate, selling fish in the morning alongside produce, smoked ham and cheese from the villages. Come before midday; it winds down early.
