Cerro Bandera
A steep climb of about four hours there and back through lenga forest reaches a bald ridge where a Chilean flag stands, with the Beagle Channel and the Argentine shore laid out below. It is the first leg of the Dientes circuit and the standard day walk for anyone not taking on the whole thing.

Dientes de Navarino
The southernmost trekking circuit in the world runs about 53 kilometres over four or five days across a range of bare granite teeth behind the town, crossing four passes and unmarked across the scree. Weather turns fast at this latitude, walkers register with the Carabineros before setting out, and there is nowhere to resupply.

Lakutaia Lodge
A low lodge in the lenga forest at Caleta Róbalo, a few kilometres west of the town, with rooms facing the Beagle Channel and a guiding operation attached. It arranges the boat to Cape Horn and the transfer to the Dientes trailhead, and it closes outside the southern summer.

Museo Territorial Yagán Usi - Martín González Calderón
The southernmost museum in the world, once named for the priest and ethnographer Martín Gusinde and now for a Yagán elder, holds bark canoes, harpoons and basketry beside the record of the Beagle voyages and the sealing years. An hour covers it, and the staff know the current state of the trails.

Parque Etnobotánico Omora
A research park on the Róbalo river where the Universidad de Magallanes studies the miniature forests of Cape Horn, the mosses and liverworts that carpet the ground and are read through hand lenses on the trail. Visits are arranged in advance and guided, and the walk takes about two hours.

Villa Ukika
Yagán families were moved to this row of houses east of the naval base in the 1960s, and the community keeps its basketry and canoe building going from there. Rush baskets are made and sold at the workshop, and the walk out from the centre takes about twenty minutes along the shore.
