Herceg Novi Old Town
The stairs are the town, and which end they are met from decides the afternoon. From the fortress at the top everything is a descent; from the seafront it is the climb the place is nicknamed for.

Savina Monastery
An easy first stop once through the Montenegrin border, with parking close to the gate and about half an hour needed.

Kanli Kula
Best combined with a walk down through the Herceg Novi old town; allow an hour if doing both, and expect steps.

Herceg Novi City Market
Below the old town steps, a covered market sells fish landed in the bay alongside mandarins from the groves behind Herceg Novi, which the town celebrates with a festival each autumn. Figs, honey, olive oil and rakija fill the stalls around the edges. Trading is done by early afternoon, and the climb back up to the squares is a steep one.

Herceg Novi Museum
The town museum of Herceg Novi, housed in the baroque villa of Mirko Komnenovic above the shore, with archaeology, ethnography and a notable icon collection. The fortresses that frame the old town, Forte Mare on the water and Kanli Kula above it, are separate visits.
