Lake Skadar National Park
The lake is a boat trip or it is nothing, and which month decides what is on it: lilies in early summer, birds in spring and autumn, and a flat calm in the first hour after the boats start.

Besac Fortress
Go up before booking a boat. The courtyard looks over the whole northern arm of the lake, so half a day on the water stops being a guess.

Grmožur Fortress
Nobody lands on it. The fortress is seen from the water on the standard Virpazar boat trip, and the ruin is unstable enough that going ashore is not part of the offer, so it is a twenty-minute pass rather than a visit.

Hotel De'Andros
The village's one full hotel, and the reason a night here beats a day trip. Everything Virpazar has is five minutes downhill from the door. The roof looks over the lake.

Virpazar Port and Ottoman Fortress Remains
End the drive here; the harbor is the destination town and walking the waterfront gives immediate sense of place before checking in.

Kom Monastery
Where the Crnojević river meets the western arm of Lake Skadar, on the island of Odrinska gora, Đurađ and Aleksa Đurašević endowed a monastery between 1415 and 1427. Its oldest frescoes are from the second half of the fifteenth century, and four of the Crnojevići are buried in it.

Lesendro Fortress
Best seen from the causeway pull-off as the lake opens up; there is no access without a boat.

Lesendro Island
An eighteenth-century fortress on a rock at the western edge of Lake Skadar, fought over between the Prince-Bishopric and Osman Pasha in the 1840s and joined to the shore when the railway embankment crossed the lake. It is viewed from the causeway road or a boat rather than entered; there is no landing infrastructure.
