Moraca River Gorge
A narrow canyon on the Morača, a river that runs 99.5 kilometres south from Kolašin municipality to Lake Skadar. The main road north from Podgorica is carried through it on a shelf cut into the rock, so most travellers meet the gorge from a car window.

Biogradska Gora National Park
Half a day is the honest allowance here. The day ticket also covers the visitor centre and its trails, and a rowing boat from the lakeside hut shows the forest wall from the water.

Morača Monastery
Leave the camera in the car and give the time to the vestibule of the main church, where a Last Judgement fills the wall. Photographs are not allowed inside either church.

Bjelasica
Rounded grassy ridges and small glacial lakes rise straight behind Kolašin, and in summer shepherds still move up to wooden huts on the high pastures. Marked paths link the summits, the lakes and the Biogradska Gora forest, so a walk can last a morning or cross the whole range. Some of the huts sell cheese and sour milk to walkers; carry cash.

Kolašin 1450
The older of Kolašin's two ski centres, on the Bjelasica slopes a short drive east of town, with runs through beech and pine forest. The season usually runs from December into March, though snow varies year to year. Hire gear at the base rather than in town.

Komovi
Three limestone peaks stand apart from every other range in the country, the highest reaching 2,487 metres. The approach is a rough mountain road to the summer shepherd settlement at Štavna, where there are cabins to sleep in, and each summit is a full day from there. Go with a local guide or a GPS track, as the upper paths are faint.
