Things to do in Perast

A single baroque street facing the narrows of the bay, built on the wealth of sea captains who once sailed for Venice. Stone palaces and bell towers stand shoulder to shoulder along the waterfront, and two islets sit offshore: Saint George, natural and cypress covered, and Our Lady of the Rocks, built up over centuries on a bank of stones dropped by passing sailors. Boats to the islets leave from the quay all day and take minutes. The town is small enough to walk end to end in twenty minutes, which makes it a calm base rather than a busy one, about 8 miles from Kotor along the shore road.

Take the short boat shuttle from the Perast waterfront and pay the small church entry; go early before the tour groups from Kotor arrive.
