Impalila Island
The Chobe meets the Zambezi at the tip of this island, and the point where four countries come closest together lies just off it. A baobab of considerable age stands near the middle. Access is by boat only, and the lodges on it run fishing and birding trips into the confluence.

Park
Mudumu National Park
Mopane woodland and reed beds line the Kwando on the park's western edge, holding elephant, buffalo, sable and a growing number of predators after years of heavy poaching. Community conservancies surround it and run the lodges. Game viewing is best from a boat when the river is high.

Nkasa Rupara National Park
Two islands in the Linyanti swamp give this park its name, and in a wet year most of its area is underwater, which makes it the largest protected wetland in the country. Access needs a 4x4 and the tracks close when the flood arrives. Buffalo, hippo and lion are the draw.
