Ai-Ais Hot Springs
Sulphurous water comes out of the ground at around sixty degrees at the canyon's southern end, fed into indoor and outdoor pools at a resort built around them. Hikers finishing the trail arrive here on foot. The road in is a long way round from the northern rim and the springs close in the hot months.

Canyon Roadhouse
Vintage cars sit half buried in the floor and against the walls of a filling station turned lodge on the road in, which is a great deal more entertaining than it sounds. Rooms and camping are behind it. It is the nearest proper bed to the rim and the fuel stop for the whole area.

Fish River Canyon
The river has cut a gorge roughly 160 kilometres long and about 550 metres deep, wound into tight meanders that the viewpoints on the eastern rim look straight down into. A five day trail runs the floor from here to the hot springs in the south, open only through the cooler months and closed to anyone walking alone.
