Things to do

Děčín Castle
Reached by the Long Ride, a walled ramp nearly 300 metres long, this castle crowns a rock above the meeting of the Ploučnice and the Elbe. Guided tours cover the state rooms, and the terraced Rose Garden reopened in 2026 after two years of restoration. The castle closes on Mondays outside July and August. Tours for individual visitors pause in January and February.

Děčínský Sněžník
Flat topped and forested, this sandstone summit is the highest table mountain in the country and carries a stone lookout tower built in 1864. From the gallery the view runs over the Ore Mountains and the volcanic cones of the České středohoří. A road reaches the village of Sněžník a short walk below. The tower shuts in fog, rain and ice and opens at weekends only from November to March.
-
Pastýřská stěna
Straight above the river, this sandstone cliff carries a lookout with a view down onto the castle, the bridges and the bend of the Elbe. A steep stepped path climbs from the town centre in about twenty minutes. The town zoo occupies the wooded plateau behind the edge, and a restaurant in a mock castle tower stands at the top.

Tisá Rocks
Sandstone towers, crevices and narrow passages fill this rock town above the village of Tisá, on the western rim of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. A marked circuit through the Great and Little Walls takes about two hours, with steps, squeezes and lookouts. Climbers use the towers, which follow strict sandstone rules with no chalk or metal gear. Entry is ticketed at the gate, and the car park fills on fine weekends.
