Hukvaldy Castle
Among the largest castle ruins in the Czech lands, Hukvaldy spreads over a forested hill above the village where the composer Leoš Janáček was born. A game park with fallow deer lines the climb to the gates. The walk up from the village takes about 20 minutes. The ruin opens from spring to autumn and closes in winter.

Kotouč Hill
Wooded limestone rises south of the town, its far side cut away by a working quarry. Marked paths lead past the Šipka cave to a hilltop park and a lookout over the quarry floor. Allow an hour for the loop from the square. Stay on the marked paths, as the quarry edges are fenced and still active.
-
Šipka Cave
A wide cave mouth in the limestone of Kotouč hill, where part of a Neanderthal child's jaw was found in 1880. There is no ticket and no guide. A short path leads from the edge of town to the entrance, and the floor is uneven and wet after rain. Sturdy shoes and a torch help in the darker back chamber.

Tatra Technical Museum
Cars and railcars built by the Tatra works in neighbouring Kopřivnice fill this large museum, from early horseless carriages to sport models. Streamlined saloons from the 1930s are the highlight for many. It lies a ten minute drive from Štramberk. Entry is ticketed, and the halls are closed to visitors on Mondays.
-
Trúba Tower
A cylindrical tower is all that stands of a medieval castle on the hill above the square, reached by a stepped lane. Wooden stairs inside climb to a gallery over the town roofs and the Beskydy hills. It closes from December to February and opens weekends only in March and November. Outside July and August the tower stays closed on Mondays as well.

Zdeněk Burian Museum
Mammoths, cave bears and early humans painted by the illustrator Zdeněk Burian hang in this small museum in the town centre. His scenes shaped how generations of Czech readers pictured prehistory. Further rooms show his drawings for adventure novels. The museum has been closed for reconstruction since January 2026, with no reopening date announced.
