Things to do

Bílá Opava Waterfalls
Cascades and rapids on the Bílá Opava are climbed by a trail of wooden footbridges, steps and ladders from the edge of Karlova Studánka toward Ovčárna. The waterfall section runs one way, uphill only, for safety. Rock and timber are slippery when wet, so boots with grip matter. The path is usually closed in winter and can shut after storm damage.
-
Červenohorské sedlo
A road pass at about 1000 metres between Jeseník and Kouty, with ski runs and lifts on either side of the saddle. Snow usually holds from December into March, and the pass gets busy on winter weekends. In summer the same slopes are a starting point for ridge walks toward Šerák and Keprník. The road over the pass can close briefly during heavy snowfall in midwinter.
-
Dlouhé Stráně Power Station
Pumped storage on a grand scale: an upper reservoir sits on a flattened summit at about 1350 metres, ringed by a walkway with views over the Jeseníky. Guided tours of the underground turbine hall run from the visitor centre in the valley. Book tours ahead in summer. The reservoir rim can also be reached on foot by a long climb from the valley.
-
Praděd
Rising to 1491 metres, this bare summit carries a television tower with a glazed viewing deck reached by lift. Cars are regulated on the narrow road from Hvězda to Ovčárna, which a shuttle bus also climbs. The last stretch from Ovčárna is a closed road of almost 4 kilometres, walked or cycled. Weather on top turns fast, with fog and strong wind.
-
Velká kotlina
A glacial cirque on the eastern slope of the main ridge, protected for its unusually rich mountain flora. Marked paths skirt the cirque along its rim and its foot, with no access to the interior. Trails reach it from the Praděd ridge and from the Moravice valley. Late June and July bring the best of the flowers.

Velké Losiny Chateau
Three wings of arcaded galleries surround the courtyard of this Renaissance chateau, set in parkland beside the Desná river. Guided tours cover furnished halls and the story of the witch trials held here in the seventeenth century. It opens in the warmer months and closes in winter. A handmade paper mill nearby still works the traditional way and can be visited too.
