Chateau de Chillon
The shore path from Montreux brings you to the castle's lake side, the face built to be seen from the water. Walk in that way if you can.

Les Avants
Just under a thousand metres above the lake, this hamlet has had a station on the Montreux Oberland Bernois line since 1901, so it is a short train ride from Montreux. Its meadows fill with wild narcissi in early May, when a marked narcissus path leads out through them. Noel Coward bought a chalet here in 1959.

Fairmont Le Montreux Palace
Built in 1906 on the lakeshore promenade, this belle epoque palace kept Vladimir Nabokov in a sixth-floor suite for the last sixteen years of his life. The Montreux Convention on the Turkish Straits was signed in its Salle des Fetes. Front rooms look straight down Lake Geneva, and the station is a short walk uphill.

Rochers-de-Naye
Straight above Montreux, this summit at 2,042 metres is reached by a cog railway climbing about sixteen hundred metres from the lakeshore in some fifty-five minutes. At the top wait marmot enclosures and, in summer, an alpine garden of around a thousand plant species. A short walk leads from the station to the summit viewpoint.
