Cathedrale de Lausanne
A Gothic cathedral consecrated in 1275 on the city's high point, with a painted portal and a rose window of the thirteenth century. A watchman has called the hours from the tower every night since 1405 and still does.

Lavaux
Eight hundred hectares of terraced vineyard running thirty kilometres east along the lake, worked since the eleventh century and a UNESCO site since 2007. A path runs the length of it through the villages and the train stops at both ends.

Collection de l'Art Brut
The collection Jean Dubuffet assembled of work by prisoners, spiritualists and psychiatric patients, given to the city in 1971 and shown in a stable block. It is unlike any other museum in the country.

Musee Olympique
The Olympic Museum in a park at Ouchy, running from the ancient games to the modern ones with the torches, the medals and a great deal on how the movement has argued with itself. The terrace looks across the lake to France.

Ouchy
The lakefront district below the city, a former fishing village with a long promenade of plane trees, the boats to Evian and the tower that is all that is left of its castle. The metro drops from the cathedral to here in seven minutes.

An arts quarter opened beside the station between 2019 and 2022, bringing the cantonal fine art museum, the photography museum and the design and applied art museum onto one former railway site.
