Eski Datça
The original inland village of stone houses and bougainvillea a couple of kilometres above the harbour, abandoned for the coast and then bought back street by street. It is a walk rather than a drive.

Hayıtbükü
A small sheltered bay next to Ovabükü where yachts anchor overnight, with a jetty, a few restaurants and pine down to the water. It is the calmest swimming on the south coast.

Knidos
A Greek city at the tip of the peninsula with two harbours, a theatre facing the sea and the round temple terrace that held the first nude Aphrodite in Greek sculpture. The drive out is thirty-five kilometres of switchbacks.

Mehmet Ali Ağa Konağı
An eighteenth-century Ottoman mansion in Reşadiye restored as a hotel, with the original painted ceilings in the main house and rooms in the garden buildings. It is the only historic house hotel on the peninsula.

Ovabükü
A sand and shingle bay on the south coast reached by a side road through almond groves, with a handful of pensions and no development behind it. The swimming is the reason to make the detour.

Palamutbükü
A pebble beach at the western end of the peninsula with water clear enough to see the bottom well out, and a row of family fish restaurants behind it. It faces the open Aegean and can be windy.
