Çanakkale Archaeological Museum
The provincial collection from the Troad, including material from Troy, Assos and the Dardanos tumulus. It is a twenty-minute walk south of the ferry terminal.

Çanakkale Kordon
The promenade along the strait, with the wooden horse from the 2004 film standing on it and the ferries crossing every hour. It is where the town spends its evenings.

Çanakkale Naval Museum
The museum in the Ottoman fortress on the Çanakkale waterfront, whose main exhibit is the minelayer Nusret, rebuilt, which laid the mines that stopped the Allied fleet on 18 March 1915. The gun park runs along the shore.

Gallipoli Peninsula Historical Site
The battlefields of the 1915 campaign, kept as a national park across the strait, with Anzac Cove, Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair and the Turkish memorials on a single road. A full circuit takes most of a day.

Kilitbahir Castle
The heart-shaped fortress Mehmed II built on the European bank in 1463 to close the strait with its twin at Çanakkale. It reopened after restoration and the keep can be climbed.

Troy
Nine cities stacked on one mound over three thousand years, excavated since Schliemann cut a trench through it in 1871. The layers are the point rather than the walls, and the museum below the site is what makes sense of them.

Troy Museum
A rust-coloured cube sunk into the field below the mound, opened in 2018, holding the finds from Troy and the Troad including gold recovered from Germany and the United States. It is one of the best modern museums in the country.
