Amasra Fortress
Byzantine and Genoese walls enclosing the whole headland, still lived in, with two gates, a chapel converted to a mosque and Genoese coats of arms above the arches. The lanes inside are residential.

Amasra Museum
The town museum in a former naval school, holding the Roman and Byzantine sculpture found on the headland and a collection of local ethnography. It takes about an hour.

Kuşkayası Monument
A Roman road monument cut into the rock on the old route out of town, with an eagle and a portrait of a governor carved above the carriageway. It sits three kilometres inland on the Bartın road.

Büyük Liman Beach
The larger of the town's two bays, a sheltered arc of sand and shingle inside the harbour arm with the fortress above it. The Black Sea is cold and the swimming season is short.

Kemere Bridge
A Roman bridge joining the headland to Boztepe island, still carrying traffic after nearly two thousand years, with the fortress gate at one end. It is a two-minute walk and an easy thing to miss.

Tavşan Islet
The small island off the western bay, a bird reserve reached by boat in summer, with a lighthouse and the remains of a Byzantine chapel. Landing is restricted in nesting season.
