Gran Paradiso
At 4,061 metres the only four-thousander entirely inside Italy, and the standard first big alpine summit because the route is glaciated but not technical. It is done over two days from a hut with rope, axe and crampons. The Vittorio Emanuele hut above Pont is the usual starting point.

Cascate di Lillaz
A three-stage waterfall a short walk above the hamlet of Lillaz, an easy path in summer and a serious ice route in winter. It is the best known of the Cogne ice lines. The path from the hamlet is short and the lower fall is reached in minutes.

Valnontey
The valley running south from Cogne into the heart of the park, walled by glaciers and holding the alpine botanical garden at Paradisia. Ibex and chamois are reliably visible on the slopes above the path. The road in ends at the hamlet and the valley beyond is walked.
