Matterhorn
Before nine on a still summer morning, you can see the Matterhorn's Italian face twice: on the skyline above the resort street, and upside down in Lago Blu, a short walk from town.

Lago Blu
A small lake below the resort that holds the Matterhorn's reflection when the surface is still, which is usually early. It is a ten-minute walk off the road up. It freezes over from late autumn and the road past it is cleared all winter.

Plateau Rosa
A glacier saddle at 3,480 metres reached by cable car, where the summer ski area sits and the national teams train. It is also the crossing point on skis to Zermatt. Snow conditions up here hold through July in most years, and the cabin ride takes under twenty minutes.
