Things to do in Val di Funes

Why you should go

Ninety seconds on Val di Funes

A side valley in South Tyrol below the Odle group, farmed in meadows right up to the base of the rock. It is the most photographed valley in the Dolomites and has no lift system at all, so it stays quiet.

Things to do

3
  1. Chiesa di San Giovanni in Ranui

    Church · 30 min

A small onion-domed chapel of 1744 standing alone in a meadow with the Odle peaks directly behind it. It is private land viewed from a marked path, and the interior is not open.

  2. Odle

    Viewpoint · 4.5 hr

A wall of pale spires closing the head of the valley, protected inside the Puez-Odle park. The Adolf Munkel path runs along their base and is the classic way to walk under them.

  3. Santa Maddalena

    Village · 1.5 hr

The upper village of the valley, whose church on a knoll is the foreground of nearly every Dolomites photograph. The viewpoints above it are signed from the car park.
