Things to do in Finale Ligure

Why you should go

Ninety seconds on Finale Ligure

A Ligurian coastal town backed by limestone plateaux that made it one of the first sport-climbing areas in Europe and, later, a winter capital of mountain biking. The rock is a shelly conglomerate that dries almost immediately after rain.

  1. Castel Govone

    Castle · 1.5 hr

A fifteenth-century fortress above Finalborgo, reached on a steep walled path. It looks over the valleys that hold most of the climbing and riding.

  2. Finalborgo

    Old Town · 1.5 hr

The intact medieval quarter a kilometre inland, walled and closed to traffic, and the place everyone regroups in after a day on the rock.

  3. Grotta delle Arene Candide

    Ruins · 1.5 hr

A cave occupied for more than twenty thousand years, where the Palaeolithic burial known as the Young Prince was found. The trails around it run through the climbing sectors above the coast.

  4. Rocca di Perti

    Viewpoint · 3 hr

The best known of the Finale crags, on the limestone above Finalborgo. Finale holds close to 2,800 routes across more than a hundred sectors, which is what makes it the crown of Italian Riviera climbing and a winter destination.
