Things to do in San Vito Lo Capo

Why you should go

Ninety seconds on San Vito Lo Capo

A cape at the northwest corner of Sicily with a long white beach and limestone walls immediately behind it. It fills with climbers from autumn to spring, when the rest of Europe is frozen and the rock here is dry.

Things to do

  1. Monte Monaco

    Viewpoint · 3 hr

The 532-metre limestone dome standing over the town, carrying most of the sport routes that made San Vito a winter climbing destination. The path to the top is steep and takes about ninety minutes.

  2. Riserva naturale dello Zingaro

    Park · 5 hr

Italy's first nature reserve, seven kilometres of roadless coast between San Vito and Scopello with coves reachable only on foot. There is no road through it at all, which is why it survives.

  3. Spiaggia di San Vito Lo Capo

    Beach · 3 hr

A wide crescent of white sand under Monte Monaco, shallow and sheltered, and among the most photographed beaches in Sicily. It is busy through August and quiet either side of it.
