Furka Pass
A road pass at 2,429 metres west of the village, open from about June to October, running past the Rhone glacier and its ice grotto. The chase scene in Goldfinger was filmed on it and the road has not changed much since.

Gotthard Pass
At 2,106 metres, this pass carries the road from German-speaking Uri into Italian-speaking Ticino, between Andermatt and Airolo. Below the modern road, the old cobbled Tremola switchbacks down the southern side and is still driveable in summer. The early Confederacy grew around this trade route, and the drive from Andermatt takes under an hour.

Oberalp Pass
East of Andermatt at 2,044 metres, this pass carries the Matterhorn Gotthard railway and the road into Graubunden. Trains run all year, while the road closes from late autumn until spring. The source of the Rhine, Lai da Tuma, lies about two hours on foot above the pass, and a waymarked trail follows the young river.

Schoellenen Gorge
The gorge below the village where the Reuss cuts through granite, impassable until a bridge was hung there in the thirteenth century and the route to the Gotthard opened. The Devil's Bridge and the Russian memorial carved into the cliff are both here.

The Chedi
A hotel of 2013 that started the rebuilding of the village, in dark timber and stone with fireplaces through the public rooms and a pool under a glass roof. It brought a standard to the Urner Alps that had not been there before.
