Chateau de Gruyeres
Walled into the top of the medieval town, this castle was built in the 1270s for the counts of Gruyeres. Inside are rooms restored by the Bovy circle, landscapes by Corot and Barthelemy Menn, three capes of the Order of the Golden Fleece and a collection of fantastic art. A French garden lies behind.

Moleson
Standing at the northern end of the chain between Lake Geneva and the Sarine valley, this summit of 2,002 metres looks over the whole Gruyere region. A funicular climbs from Moleson-sur-Gruyeres to Plan-Francey, where a cable car takes over for the top, beside a restaurant. Hikers walk up, and a via ferrata climbs the rock.

Musee HR Giger
The Swiss artist's own museum in the Chateau St. Germain, holding the airbrush work, the sculpture and the Oscar he won for Alien in 1980. The bar across the lane is fitted out as a vertebral cavern and is worth the detour on its own.
