Baroque Palace
Come for the outside and the park first: the long yellow front, the basilica beside it and Canons' Row take an easy hour together. To see the treasury inside, contact the diocese's tourism office before your visit, because opening is limited.

City Hall Tower
The clock tower of the city hall on Union Square rises about fifty metres, and 250 steps climb past the clock mechanism to three viewing levels. The entrance is on Strada Tudor Vladimirescu, not on the square. Only a handful of visitors fit on the top level at once, and the tower is closed on Mondays.

Hotel Astoria
Stay here for the address. You step straight out onto the square by the river, and Union Square is a few minutes away over the bridge.

Nymphaea Aquapark
A water park a short walk east of the fortress, with indoor and outdoor pools, slides and a spa of saunas and a Turkish bath. The indoor pools and the spa make it a good plan for a wet day. Allow half a day.

Oradea Fortress
Give the fortress a morning between Tuesday and Sunday, when the city museum inside it is open. The grounds and the walk along the moat are free, and the painted Griffin Hall in the princely palace is the room to find.

Oradea Neolog Synagogue
See it from the far bank after dark, when the lit dome is doubled in the river. The inside opens for concerts and exhibitions, so check what is on before you plan to go in.

Băile Felix
Bring a swimsuit and give it an afternoon. The big thermal pool complex is open all year, while the outdoor water park closes from late September to May.

Black Eagle Palace
Walk through the glass-roofed arcade twice. By day you see the stained-glass eagle over the entrance, and after dark the cafés along the passage fill.

Calea Republicii
The pedestrian street running north from the river is lined for most of its length with restored art nouveau facades, the blue Moskovits Palace among them. Café terraces fill the ground floors and are busiest from late afternoon. Walking it end to end with stops takes about an hour.

Canons' Row
Ten canons' houses joined behind one long arcade of 57 arches, about 250 metres of covered walk beside the park of the Baroque Palace and the basilica. The arcade gives shade on a hot day. Early morning is the quietest time to see it.

Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mary
Walk up from the centre in about twenty minutes, or ride the tram, and see the basilica, the palace and Canons' Row in one visit. Go inside between services, when the nave is quiet.

Ciuperca Hill
A wooded hill at the edge of the centre, with paths up to a viewing platform and a restaurant looking over the roofs of the city. The walk up from the river takes about fifteen minutes. Come for sunset, when the light is warmest and the platform is busiest.

Darvas-La Roche House
An art nouveau villa kept as a house museum, with its furniture, stained glass, kitchen and bathroom as they were. It sits on a quiet back street a few minutes from Union Square, and a visit takes about forty-five minutes. The house is closed on Mondays.

Moon Church
Look up at the tower before you go in: the gilded sphere turns to show the phase of the moon. It is easiest to read from across Union Square.

Țării Crișurilor Museum
The county museum holds about 450,000 objects across archaeology, history, ethnography, art and natural history, set out over several floors. Since 2020 it has filled the former garrison building on Armatei Române street, south-west of the centre, having left the Baroque Palace. Allow two hours, and note that it is closed on Mondays.
