Peleș Castle
Two thousand timed tickets a day, and the courtyard queue builds from eleven. Monday and Tuesday it is shut altogether, which catches day trips out of Bucharest more often than the queue does.

Bucegi Natural Park
A protected area of about 32,600 hectares over the plateau above the valley, reached by cable car from the town, holding the Sphinx, Babele and the country's most walked high ground. Weather on the plateau turns faster than the valley suggests.

Foișor Castle
The hunting lodge in the Peleș park, rebuilt in 1932 after a fire, used by Carol II and later by the communist leadership as a protocol villa. It opened to visitors only recently.

Palace Hotel
A hotel of 1911 in the central park between the casino and the monastery, restored with its stair and dining room intact, and the address the resort was built around.

Pelișor Castle
The smaller house built beside Peleș in 1902 for the future Ferdinand and Marie, decorated by Marie herself in an art nouveau that is closer to the Vienna Secession than to anything else in the country. The gold leaf chapel is hers.

Sinaia Casino
A casino of 1912 modelled on Monte Carlo, built for the summer court and now a conference and exhibition building. The interiors survive better than the function.

Sinaia Monastery
The monastery founded in 1695 by Mihail Cantacuzino and named for Sinai, which gave the town its name two centuries before there was a town. Two churches stand in its courtyards and the older is the smaller.
