Bucegi Sphinx
The cable car does not run in strong wind, and the plateau is where the wind is. A day that looks settled in the valley can end at the bottom station, which is worth knowing before this is built into an itinerary.

Omu Peak
The hut at the top is the highest building in the country and it opens only at weekends in high summer, so the walk has to be planned around whether there will be anything there when it is reached.

Babele
A group of mushroom shaped rocks near the Sphinx, cut by wind and frost out of conglomerate, beside the plateau's main hut and the junction of most of its paths.

Cantacuzino Castle
A neo-Romanian house of 1911 built for Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, with a terrace looking straight at the Bucegi wall and a park of grottoes and springs below it. It has been used as a filming location often enough to be recognisable.

Caraiman Heroes Cross
A 28 metre steel cross on a 7 metre base standing at 2,291 metres on the Caraiman peak, raised between 1926 and 1928 for the dead of the First World War and lit at night. It is visible from the valley and it is a long walk up.

Urlătoarea Waterfall
A waterfall about fifteen metres high in the forest south of the town, reached on an easy marked path of about forty minutes. The name means the one that howls.
